Description
A hand-sewn bag rarely turns shabby along its top; it turns shabby underneath. Its base meets asphalt, gravel plus station platforms, while fabric wears through at those four points carrying its weight.
Foot studs solve that by never letting fabric touch down. This one measures 12 mm across, finished as antique brass — a warm, slightly darkened tone suiting faux leather plus canvas as readily as heavier cotton.
Fit it straight through your fabric: pierce a hole, seat your stud, fold its prongs over inside. Reinforcing that base beforehand, by firm interfacing or a patch of faux leather, gives you a foot that holds even under heavy loads.
What Bag Foot Stud, Antique Brass, 12 mm is suitable for
- Bag bases set down over asphalt plus gravel.
- Shoppers or weekenders whose base carries their whole weight.
- Fabric baskets plus storage bins otherwise standing directly over a worktop.
- Repairing bags whose base already shows its first worn patches.
Frequently asked questions
How many will one bag need?
Usually four, one at every base corner. Very wide bags want two more along their long sides, so that base never sags under weight, touching down between those corners anyway.
How do I fit one?
Mark its place, pierce a small hole by awl or punch pliers, seat your stud from outside, then fold its prongs over inside. A spoon handle helps there, sparing your fingertips.
Does my base want reinforcing?
Over thin fabric, yes. Firm interfacing, or a stitched patch of faux leather, spreads whatever tension your stud applies locally. Without that, heavy loads eventually pull it straight through.
Will this metal corrode?
Its cap comes coated, surviving rain plus road grime. Wipe it dry after wet weather; leaving a bag standing damp for long risks marks spreading across surrounding fabric instead.
