Description
Metallic thread is not an ordinary thread: it is a thin foil around a core, and that foil chafes when pulled through a tight eye. After a few centimetres the thread then snaps. These needles have an enlarged, polished eye and a shaped scarf. The thread runs freely and is guided at the stitch rather than squeezed. The pack holds 6 needles in assorted sizes, so you have the right one for thin and for denser fabrics. If you work with effect thread a lot, it pays to keep a few spare needles.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my metallic thread keep breaking?
Usually at the eye. An ordinary needle eye is too tight for metallic, the foil chafes and the thread snaps. A needle with a large eye often solves the problem on its own.
Which size should I use?
The pack holds assorted sizes. As a rule of thumb: thin fabric, thin needle. Start with the smaller one and change if the needle works audibly or starts skipping stitches.
Can I sew normally with them?
Yes, these needles sew with ordinary thread as well. The large eye does not get in the way. For plain seams a universal needle is cheaper though and lasts at least as long.
When should I change the needle?
At the latest when it clicks on entry, skips stitches or pulls threads. A few hours of sewing is a sensible guide, and with metallic thread rather sooner than later.
