Description

Microtex is the sharpest needle in the range: it pierces rather than pushing threads aside. That is exactly what densely woven cloth needs, where an ordinary universal needle leaves visible holes or pulls threads.

Size 60 is your finest common gauge — printed on the pack as 60/8. System 130/705 H-M fits every domestic machine taking a flat-shank needle. Each pack holds 5 needles. Pair it with fine thread and sew slowly; on very fine fabrics, shortening your stitch length a little keeps that seam from pulling out.

What Schmetz Microtex Machine Needles 60 is suitable for

  • Silk and viscose, because a fine point pulls no threads.
  • Batiste and muslin, because this needle stays invisible there.
  • Coated cotton, because small punctures leave hardly any holes.
  • Precise topstitching, because this needle holds its track exactly.

Frequently asked questions

When should I choose Microtex over universal?

Whenever your cloth is densely woven or very fine. A universal needle has a slightly rounded point that pushes threads aside; Microtex pierces cleanly, leaving a smaller hole behind.

Will it fit my machine?

System 130/705 H-M is the standard for domestic machines taking a flat-shank needle. If yours has been taking ordinary universal needles, this one fits just as well.

When should I change the needle?

At the latest once your seam loops, your fabric snags, or you hear a click as it pierces. As a rule of thumb, fit a fresh needle after every larger project.

Is size 60 not too thin?

On fine fabrics it is exactly right. In firmer weaves such a thin needle breaks more easily — there you are better served by a heavier Microtex or a universal needle.
