Description

A multicolour thread: Peach, Blue, Rust and Green follow one another on a single thread. Sulky calls the colour “Peach/Blue/Rust/Green”, colour number 2241.

The thread is made of viscose and therefore has a warm, silky shine. It does not lint, does not shrink, is boil-proof and colourfast. Because viscose stretches less than polyester, the thread runs smoothly in the embroidery machine and the stitches lie evenly. At weight 40 it suits the usual embroidery programmes and decorative stitches.

Tip: with a fine to medium embroidery needle and slightly looser top tension, the stitches come out cleanest.

Sewing tips

Nadelstärke NM 75–80 verwenden, Universal-, Top-Stitch- oder Sticknadel.
Die Oberfadenspannung beim Sticken etwas lockerer stellen als beim Nähen.
Als Unterfaden ein dünnes Untergarn nehmen; ist die Rückseite sichtbar, passt auch Rayon 40 selbst.
Die Zierstiche der meisten Nähmaschinen sind auf ein Garn der Stärke 40 ausgelegt.
Stickvlies passend zum Stoff wählen, damit sich das Motiv nicht wellt.
Farbnummer notieren, dann lässt sich dieselbe Farbe später eindeutig nachbestellen.

Frequently asked questions

Viscose or polyester – what is the difference?

Viscose shines more warmly and softly, almost like silk, and stretches less, so it runs more calmly in the machine. Polyester in turn is even more hard-wearing and also tolerates bleach.

Which needle suits Rayon 40?

Ideally a universal, top-stitch or embroidery needle in a fine to medium size. A needle that is too fine makes the thread chafe, one that is too thick leaves visible holes in the fabric.

How do I set the thread tension?

While embroidering the top tension may sit slightly looser than for sewing. It is right when the reverse shows roughly one third top thread and two thirds bobbin thread.

How does a multicolour thread look in a design?

Several colours follow one another on a single thread. On decorative stitches and lettering that creates a lively change of colour without swapping thread. The longer the stitches, the clearer the single colours.
