Lay it flat rather than over a table edge, weigh it down and cut with a rotary cutter. Pins leave holes in fine goods; clips at the edge are the better choice.
How do I wash it?
Cool and gentle. Viscose loses strength when wet and shrinks more readily than cotton. Before cutting, wash it once the way the finished piece will be washed.
Do I need a lining?
On thin, pale goods often yes — otherwise the garment is see-through. A light lining or a slip solves it without destroying the drape. A second piece of the same fabric will do as well, if the colour matches.
How much fabric do I need?
More for draping cuts than for straight ones: a dress with fullness needs the fabric its folds are made of. On repeat prints allow extra waste.
