Description
Rex is a smooth faux leather with a fine, irregular grain — no printed pattern but a texture that shows in raking light. In black it reads calm and grown-up.
This cut piece measures 50 x 70 cm and arrives ready — you buy exactly the area you need instead of half a metre off a roll. Material is faux leather in 18 % polyester with 82 % polyvinyl chloride, weighing 400 g/m², so firm yet still supple enough for a domestic machine. Care symbols allow no washing, no ironing, no bleach, no tumble drying; wipe marks off damp. Sew with a universal needle, a longer stitch, no pins — holes stay visible in faux leather for good. Use clips or tape to hold your layers together instead.
What Faux Leather Cut Piece 50 x 70 cm Black is suitable for
- Bag bases, because black copes well with wear.
- Handles and straps, because this material never frays.
- Purses, because 400 g/m² gives enough body.

Frequently asked questions
Which needle, which stitch?
A universal needle in a heavier gauge, stitch length around three millimetres. Short stitches perforate this material like a postage stamp, weakening your seam. Sew slowly, evenly, so your line stays clean.
Can I work with pins?
Better not: every puncture stays visible. Use clips, wonder clips or narrow tape inside your seam allowance. If pins are unavoidable, place them only within that allowance, where nothing shows later on.
Do I need to finish the edges?
No. Faux leather does not fray, so a cut edge stays exactly as it is. That saves work, making this material handy for raw edges, straps and appliqué.
What does one piece cover?
For bag bases, flaps, handles, appliqué or purses this area serves well. For a whole bag, reckon on two pieces, since a cut piece and pattern pieces rarely line up without waste.
