Description
<p>A whole train is on its way across this jersey: a small engine pulls carriages in orange, yellow and turquoise, carrying an elephant, a giraffe, a raccoon and a dino in a party hat. A kitten waves a signal paddle. The light grey ground lets the colours shine without making the print look busy.</p><p>Mantua is made from 95 % cotton and 5 % elastane and weighs 210 g/m². It is soft, breathable and springs back after stretching, so cuffs and necklines keep their shape.</p><p>This print runs in rows and has a direction. Lay all pattern pieces the same way round. The 145 cm width fits several children’s tops side by side.</p>

Frequently asked questions
How do I sew cotton jersey?
Use a jersey or stretch needle and a stretch stitch, ideally on an overlocker. Do not pull this fabric, just guide it, and seams stay flat. A twin needle works well for hems.
Does the print have a direction?
Yes, the animals ride in rows and all stand upright. When cutting, place every piece in the same direction, otherwise the animals end up upside down on a sleeve or trouser leg.
Should I prewash the jersey?
Yes, cotton can shrink slightly in its first wash. Wash once at 30 degrees and let it dry, then cut. That way the finished garment still fits after washing.
How do I care for the print?
Wash inside out at 30 degrees, do not bleach, do not iron and do not tumble dry. Dry flat or on the line. This keeps the colours of the animal train fresh for a long time.
