Description
Two mammoths in shaggy coats stand before a dark blue wall of ice, while a third field shows only the structure of that ice with its cracks. Those lines of lettering poke fun at all that woolly hair — humour which works well on a cushion in a living room.
This is a dense velvet in 100 % polyester at 250 g/m², soft in the pile with a light sheen. The sheet measures 105 cm long by 140 cm wide. Wash at 30 degrees, skip your iron, keep it out of your tumble dryer — either would crush the pile flat.

How many cushions does one panel make?
This sheet carries four motifs side by side, so four cushion fronts. For the backs, take a quiet plain fabric, or a second panel if you want a motif on both sides.
How do I sew the cushion cover?
Cut your motif with seam allowance all round, lay it right sides together with your backing and leave an opening. An envelope closure is simplest, since it needs no zip fitted.
Does velvet shift while sewing?
It tends to, because layers wander against each other on the pile. Less presser foot pressure and a walking foot help, as do plenty of pins. Sew slowly and your edge stays straight.
Does polyester make sense for cushions?
Yes. That pile stays dense, colours barely fade, and this cloth takes up less moisture than cotton velvet. For decorative cushions that mostly sit and are rarely washed, all of that helps.
