Description

This patch shows a rocket lifting off on a tail of fire. Embroidery is worked densely, edges are overstitched, so that motifs stand slightly proud of their backing — handmade in appearance, if never in fact.

On a gym bag a child spots their own from across a hallway, which saves a lot of mix-ups.

Its reverse carries a glue layer that melts under heat and sets as it cools. Baking paper protects glue and iron alike. Anyone wanting to be sure stitches around the edge as well. Very thin or stretchy cloth holds an iron-on patch poorly; stitching serves better there.

What Iron-on Patch, Rocket Lifting Off is suitable for

  • T-shirts and sweatshirts, where motifs stand free.
  • Denim jackets, rucksacks — firm cloth holds best.
  • Holes and stains, because patches cover them.

Frequently asked questions

How do I iron this patch on?

Set your iron to cotton, steam off. Lay baking paper over each motif, press firmly about thirty seconds, no sliding about. Let it cool, then press again from behind, same length of time.

Will it survive a washing machine?

Yes, under ordinary household washing, provided it went on cleanly. Turn your garment inside out, skip your tumble dryer, then edges stay down. Anyone wanting certainty adds a few stitches around it.

Can I sew this patch instead?

Yes, and thin or stretchy cloth prefers it. Run a narrow zigzag along each edge, thread matching your overstitching. Glue backing causes no trouble while sewing, so both methods combine well.

Does this patch come off again?

Heat softens glue once more, so motifs can be peeled away carefully. Residue almost always remains, though; delicate cloth tends to keep a faint shadow where a patch has been sitting.
