For cords and laces: the eyelet holds the edge so the fabric cannot fray. The stated size is Ø 5 mm. Sold as 40 pieces. The material is brass.
The work takes two steps: punch the hole, then press the two parts together. Once an eyelet sits firmly, it no longer turns. On drawstring bags, hoods and lace-up closures they sit exactly where daily pulling happens. Punch the hole tightly: too large a hole lets the eyelet wander, a snug one holds it in place. Prym has made sewing notions in Stolberg for generations.

Frequently asked questions
How are they fitted?
Small sizes go on with a hammer and a base or with punch pliers, larger ones need the enclosed tool plus a hammer. Either way, put a solid base underneath, not a table top.
Which fabrics do they suit?
Firm wovens, leather, felt and tarpaulin hold on their own. Thin or stretchy cloth needs an interfacing underneath so the eyelet cannot migrate through. A strip of webbing or leather inside spreads the pull as well.
Can an eyelet be removed again?
Hardly ever cleanly, because its rim is folded over. So test on a scrap before starting on the good piece. At worst, cut the piece of fabric out and set a patch beneath.
How far from the edge do they go?
Enough fabric must remain so nothing tears out: roughly one eyelet width from the edge, and on soft cloth rather more than less. With several eyelets a drawn line keeps the row straight.
