Description

Chalk marks on fabric and brushes out afterwards — the oldest answer and still one of the best. It measures 49 mm × 85 mm. Sold as a single item. The material is plastic, metal, chalk powder.

Darts, pocket positions and plackets want marking before the machine runs — afterwards it is only guesswork. Light cloth calls for a dark marking, dark cloth for a light one — which is why most sewing boxes hold two colours side by side. What has been marked should be sewn before long; if the cut pieces lie around for weeks, some lines fade by themselves. The pack states the size, so buying more later stays easy.

What Prym Kreiderad Maus Ergonomics 610950 is suitable for

  • Marking darts and seam lines
  • Transferring patterns onto fabric
  • Drawing quilting lines and grids

Frequently asked questions

Which fabrics does it suit?

Most wovens and knits. On very absorbent or coated goods every marking behaves differently, so a test on a scrap stays the safest route. On velvet and towelling it is better to mark on the reverse.

How long does a line stay visible?

Long enough for cutting and sewing, but not forever. If cut pieces lie around for weeks, redraw shortly before sewing. Light and warmth speed up fading, so keep pieces away from the window.

How should pens be stored?

Lying flat, capped and out of the sun. Pens left open dry out, and a dried tip draws streaks instead of lines. A pen that no longer draws can sometimes be revived on paper.

How fine should the line be?

As fine as possible: a broad line leaves open where exactly to sew. Darts and notches deserve the fine tip, cutting lines manage with the broad one.
