Description
Smooth elastic eventually twists inside its casing, leaving a waistband sitting crooked. Ribs prevent that: they stiffen this band across its width, so it stays flat. Black vanishes under dark fabric, showing nothing even against bright light.
At 3 cm it runs wide enough that a waistband never digs in. Thread it through as usual by safety pin or bodkin; to stitch it down directly, quarter both band plus waistband, then stretch evenly as you sew.
Its 65 % polyester keeps this band stable, while 35 % elastodiene supplies pull. Washing does not cost it recovery — though fabric softener deserves avoiding, since it attacks every elastic eventually.

Will it lose its stretch?
Not quickly, as long as nothing keeps it overstretched. Hot washing plus fabric softener attack its elastodiene threads; cool washing, air drying, keeps recovery going longest.
