Description
Navy runs so dark that beside black it only just reads as blue. For maritime decoration it is the established shade.
Material is 100 % polyester, width measures 6 mm, sold from 0.2 metres. Satin means long yarn floats across the show side, hence that sheen. This ribbon barely creases, settling flat again soon after unrolling. Care symbols exclude washing, ironing, bleach and tumble dryer. Because satin slips, add a drop of fabric glue inside a bow's knot. On paper, double-sided tape holds better than liquid glue, which soaks through narrow ribbon and leaves dark marks.
What Satin Ribbon 6 mm Navy is suitable for
- Casings, because this ribbon passes through without twisting.
- Fine hems, because this shade never underlines a seam.
- Layering with wider ribbon, because layers give depth.

Frequently asked questions
Does it shift while sewing?
On smooth satin a presser foot slips easily. Sew slowly, keep slight tension on the ribbon and stitch both edges in the same direction — otherwise your second seam travels against the first.
How many colours can one project take?
Two or three from one family read coordinated; four quickly turn restless. On gift wrapping, use two tones and vary the bow shape instead.
Does it stretch as you tie?
Polyester gives hardly at all, so the length you measured is the length you keep. That helps when tying: your loop will not sag once the knot pulls tight.
What happens when I seal the edge?
Polyester melts and closes that edge — it takes under a second. Hold the end only briefly to the flame and let it cool before touching, or the sealed edge distorts.
