Description
Olive already pulls towards brown, reading warmer than a pure green. Beside rust and mustard it completes an autumn palette.
A narrow satin ribbon in 100 % polyester, 6 mm wide, sold from 0.2 metres. That sheen comes from the weave rather than a coating, so it will not disappear over time. Washing, ironing, bleaching and drying are not intended. Sewing rewards patience: on smooth satin a presser foot slips, so work slowly and stitch both edges in the same direction. For casings, fix a safety pin to one end and push the ribbon through bit by bit.
What Satin Ribbon 6 mm Olive is suitable for
- Bouquets, because this ribbon fits around stems.
- Advent calendars, because many small lengths are needed.
- Pairings with kraft paper, because that contrast stays calm.

Frequently asked questions
Why does only one side shine?
That is the satin weave: on the show side, yarn floats long across the surface and reflects light; on the back it binds short and stays matt. You can use either side deliberately.
How do I thread it through a casing?
Fix a safety pin or a bodkin to one end and push it through bit by bit. At 6 mm your casing is usually wide enough that the ribbon will not twist on the way.
Does a knot hold in such narrow ribbon?
Satin slips, so a simple knot tends to loosen. Pull it tight, leave the ends long enough, and add a drop of fabric glue inside if needed — then it stays where you put it.
Does it suit hair bows?
For small bows on baby headbands yes. For larger bows meant to hold their shape, 6 mm is too narrow — reach for a wider ribbon or layer several lengths.
