Description
This shaping aid pushes corners and edges out without piercing the fabric. The stated size is 12.5 cm × 2.5 cm. Sold as a single item. Produced from plastic.
Standing a hot appliance on a heat-resistant rest keeps the sewing table usable and risks no scorch mark. Corners, edges and hems only take the shape the pattern intended under heat and pressure. Temperature follows the most delicate material in the piece — for blends, the lower setting applies. These notions fit any sewing drawer and come to hand quickly.
What Prym shaping aid in Violet is suitable for
- Pressing seams flat
- Patchwork and small pieces
- Work right at the sewing station
Frequently asked questions
May I press coated fabrics?
Not directly. A sheet of baking paper between iron and fabric protects the coating, and often smoothing by hand is quite enough. A test on a scrap shows within a minute what the surface tolerates.
How do I avoid shine?
Press from the reverse or lay a pressing cloth on top. Shine appears where pressure and heat meet the fibre directly — above all on dark wool and blends.
Where does a hot iron go?
On a heat-resistant rest, not on the sewing table. A silicone rest takes the heat and can simply be put aside once cool. Without a rest, at least stand the iron on a tile.
When do I press while sewing?
After every seam, before the next one crosses it. That is the difference between a piece that lies flat and one that bulks at the junctions.
