Polyester stretches minimally and therefore moves a little with a jersey seam. It does not replace a stretch stitch for elastic seams, but it forgives more than pure cotton thread.

The colour card is the real advantage. The finer the gradation, the more likely you find a shade that disappears in the finished piece. When torn between two, take the darker – it shows less.

Use the same thread for needle and bobbin. Different threads pull differently and the seam turns uneven or draws in.

Store it dry and dark. Thread left in the sun for years loses strength and then breaks in the middle of a long seam.

Can I use Sew All for jersey?

Yes. Polyester gives a little, and together with a stretch stitch the seam holds. For heavily stretched areas such as cuffing, an overlocker or stretch stitch is still the better choice.

Which colour if none matches exactly?

The darker of the two shades. Light thread shows on dark fabric, while dark thread disappears into the seam and is barely noticeable.

Why does my thread break mid seam?

Often it is old thread that has gone brittle, or the tension is too high. Check both – and whether the needle suits the thread weight.
