Zip bought by metre offers something finished closures cannot: your project sets its length, not a catalogue. That takes two things — coil yardage plus a matching slider.
This one belongs to 3 mm spiral width. Width alone decides: a slider made for narrow coil never runs over wider coil, while wider sliders simply jam. This slider measures 32 mm long.
Thread it from an open end, keeping both coil sides parallel. Should it tilt, twist gently rather than forcing. Afterwards work a few firm stitches across that coil below, so your slider cannot run off again.
What Schieber Zipper zu Spirale Reißverschlüssen 3 mm Altmessing is suitable for
- Bags plus wash bags, where a pattern sets zip length.
- Garments whose zip length no finished product happens to offer.
- Repairs, whenever an old slider gives up while its coil stays sound.
Frequently asked questions
Will this slider fit my zip?
What counts is spiral width rather than length. A slider built for narrow coil never runs over wider coil, nor the reverse. That width appears alongside zip yardage, or gets measured across your existing spiral.
How do I thread a slider on?
From an open end, guiding both spiral sides parallel, pushing your slider straight on. Should it tilt, twist gently rather than forcing — force bends its body, after which it never closes cleanly again.
Can I set its length myself?
Yes, which is the point of buying zip by metre: cut your spiral to measure, thread a slider on, secure both ends. Your closure then fits that bag or garment exactly, instead of the other way round.
How do I secure both ends?
Across its lower end, work a few firm stitches over that spiral, so your slider cannot run off. At its top, whatever seam encloses your zip takes over that job.
