About this range

A continuous zip consists of two tapes with an unbroken nylon coil. It has no fixed start or end, so it fits any opening: cushion covers, bags, backpacks, pencil cases or a long upholstery seam. For one-offs and unusual sizes this is often easier than a ready-made zip in a fixed length.

The fine coil is light and flexible and barely shows on dresses, blouses, cushions and small bags. The sturdy coil takes more strain and belongs on jackets, backpacks and larger bags. Besides the plain shades, the sturdy coil also comes in metallic versions with a gold, silver or rose gold coil.

Coil and slider must match: the slider has to be made for the same coil width, otherwise it will not run or slips off. Cut a little longer than the finished opening to leave room for the stops and the seam allowance. The colour number on each item helps you find a shade again later.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the slider onto a continuous zip?

Separate the two tape halves slightly at the end and feed both into the slider at the same time, then pull the slider up a little until both sides engage evenly. Finish the open end with a few hand stitches or an end stop.

Which slider fits?

Always a slider for the same coil width: fine coil with a fine slider, sturdy coil with a sturdy slider. The width is stated on every item. The wrong slider will not grip properly and opens under strain.

Fine or sturdy coil?

The fine coil for light fabrics and small openings such as dresses, cushions and wash bags. The sturdy coil for jackets, backpacks and anything that is opened often or carries weight.
