<p>Doha brings colour to bags and sofas: large mandalas made of golden-yellow arcs, dots and drops sit on a ground that shifts from pink through violet to blue. The pattern looks almost like batik and really catches the eye.</p><p>This fabric is a canvas of 100 % cotton in plain weave. At 230 g/m² it is firm enough for bags, cushions and decoration, yet still easy to sew on a domestic machine.</p><p>The mandalas are printed large. For cushions or bag flaps it pays to centre one mandala and allow a little extra fabric for that. The 145 cm width leaves enough room to do so.</p>

Which needle do I need for canvas?
A medium denim needle and a straight stitch with a slightly longer stitch length. Sew slowly over corners with many layers; a walking foot helps at thick spots.
How do I position the mandalas?
This pattern is large-scale. For cushions and bags, spread out the fabric and deliberately place one mandala in the centre of the pattern piece. Plan a little extra yardage for that.
Do I need to prewash canvas?
Cotton can shrink slightly in its first wash. For cushion covers and aprons, wash it beforehand at 30 degrees. For bags that are rarely washed, this is not necessary.
How do I care for this fabric?
Wash at 30 degrees, do not bleach and do not tumble dry. Iron from the reverse with low heat. This keeps the colour gradient strong and the fabric firm.
