<p>Rex Metallic is a faux leather by Swafing with a finely grained surface and a light metallic shimmer. Its top layer of 82 % polyvinyl chloride sits on a backing of 18 % polyester; the material weighs 400 g/m² and is 140 cm wide.</p><p>Natural white with a pearly sheen looks elegant and bright, lovely for bags, bridal accessories and light living spaces. This colour comes from the current Swafing autumn and winter collection.</p><p>Because faux leather does not fray, cut edges can simply stay open. It makes bags, toiletry bags, cases, key rings and labels for handmade clothing. Cushions and stool covers also gain a modern look.</p>

How do I sew faux leather?

Use a leather needle or a strong denim needle and a long stitch so the material is not perforated. A Teflon or roller foot stops the smooth surface sticking to the presser foot.

Can I use pins?

Better not, because every hole remains visible. Hold the layers together with fabric clips instead, and only make markings within the seam allowance or on the reverse. Chalk or a disappearing marker works well.

How do I care for Rex Metallic?

This faux leather is not washable. Simply wipe off dirt with a damp cloth and a little mild soap. Do not iron, do not bleach and do not tumble dry.

Do I need to finish the edges?

No, faux leather does not fray. The cut edges can stay open, which gives bags and accessories a clean, modern look. A rotary cutter ensures straight edges.
