Fleece weighs little and warms a lot — which is why it sits in jackets, blankets and children's winter clothes. Weight per square metre comes to 222 g/m², width to 152 cm. It is woven from 100 % polyester.
In Camel the fabric reads solid rather than conspicuous — the colour for bags, jackets and anything rugged. Pins leave holes in coated goods that stay. Clips on the seam allowance solve it. Fabric by the metre is cut in one piece; your ordered length arrives as a single cut. If unsure, order a little more — a later order may come from a different batch.

Frequently asked questions
How do I reinforce the seam?
On bags with a flat-felled seam or a second row of topstitching. That not only holds better, it also makes the seam flatter — and flatness is half the battle on thick fabrics.
What do I do with offcuts?
Wet bags, bag bases, rain covers and sit mats. Coated offcuts are too valuable to discard, because they do exactly what ordinary cotton cannot. A piece the size of a postcard already covers a bag base.
Can I pin it?
Only in the seam allowance. Coated goods keep every hole, and a seam cannot be unpicked without traces. Clips are the better choice, since they pierce nothing.
The fabric sticks to the presser foot — what helps?
A Teflon foot or a walking foot. Alternatively a strip of tissue paper between foot and fabric, torn away after the seam. A sheet of baking paper under the fabric also helps when no special foot is at hand.
