About this range

A double-faced fabric has two finished sides. With teddy bouclé the outside is a dense bouclé with small curls and the inside is smooth fleece that feels soft against the skin. That is why you can sew gilets, reversible jackets and teddy coats without a lining and even leave edges raw, because fleece does not fray.

The matching version has the same shade inside and out and looks calm. With Paddy the back is a contrasting colour, such as sand with natural white or dark blue with smoky blue. The second shade shows wherever the fabric turns over: at the collar, the lapels, the hood edge and the cuffs.

Because the inside is visible, it pays to finish the seams neatly, for example as flat-felled seams or bound with bias tape. Lay all pieces in the same pile direction and sew with a walking foot so the layers do not shift.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the matching version and Paddy?

In the matching version the curls and the fleece share the same shade. With Paddy the fleece back has its own coordinated colour, which shows wherever the fabric turns over, such as at the collar, lapels and cuffs.

Does a gilet made from teddy bouclé need a lining?

No. The fleece side is the finished inside and feels soft. What matters is finishing the seams neatly because they are visible inside, for example as flat-felled seams or bound with bias tape.

How do I care for teddy bouclé?

Wash at a low temperature and do not tumble dry. Do not iron the fabric directly or the curls will be flattened. If needed, press from the fleece side with low heat and a cloth in between.
