Description

Lilac is a delicate, cool violet with a powdery undertone. Because front and back are dyed the same, even a folded collar looks calm. With grey, natural white or dusty mint lilac looks fresh and playful, ideal for children's vests and girls' jackets.

Because the inside is smooth fleece, the fabric sits comfortably over jumpers and shirts and slips on easily. No lining is needed. The seams remain visible inside, so finish them neatly as flat-felled seams or bound with bias tape.

When cutting, lay all pieces in the same pile direction. A walking foot stops the layers from shifting.

Sewing tips

Doubleface: Die Fleece-Abseite ist die fertige Innenseite. Westen und Jacken brauchen kein Futter.
Weil man die Innenseite sieht, die Nähte sauber versäubern, als Kappnaht oder mit Schrägband eingefasst.
Kanten mit Schrägband oder Bündchen einfassen. Fleece franst nicht, offene Kanten gehen also auch.
Bei Paddy zeigt sich die abgesetzte Rückseite überall, wo der Stoff umgeschlagen wird, am Kragen, am Revers und an den Ärmelaufschlägen. Diese Stellen beim Zuschnitt bewusst einplanen.
Alle Teile in dieselbe Strichrichtung zuschneiden.
Universalnadel 90, Stichlänge 3, am besten mit Obertransportfuß.
Nicht direkt bügeln, die Locken drücken sich sonst platt.
Bei 30 Grad waschen, nicht in den Trockner.

Frequently asked questions

Does Teddy Boucle need a lining?

No. The fabric is doubleface with boucle outside and smooth fleece inside. Both sides are finished, so vests and jackets can be sewn without a lining and still look tidy on the inside.

Can I sew a reversible vest from it?

Yes, doubleface is ideal for that. Bind the edges with bias tape and add patch pockets. With Paddy you get two colours in a single garment this way.

Can I iron Teddy Boucle?

Better not directly, otherwise the curls get flattened. If a seam needs to lie flat, work from the fleece side with little heat and a pressing cloth, or simply smooth the seam open with your finger.

How do I finish the seams without a lining?

The neatest options are flat-felled seams or bias-bound edges. Because fleece does not fray, a neatly trimmed seam allowance without further finishing is enough in less visible places.
