At 15 mm this button sits in that size class you find over blouses, children's shirts, lightweight cardigans. Its surface stays satin rather than glossy, which keeps its shade calm.
It comes from 100 % polyester. Which means it absorbs no water, never warps through a machine wash, keeping its colour across many cycles. While ironing, guide your iron around it, so its surface holds whatever sheen it started with.
Sewing it on, leave your thread slightly loose — a small shank between button plus fabric lets it slip through its hole later. Buttonhole size follows diameter; test over a scrap before cutting into a finished garment.
What Kunststoffknopf 2-löchrig Ø 1,5 cm Seidenmatt navy is suitable for
- Children's clothing, because 15 mm never reads coarse over small garments.
- Blouses or shirts wanting a discreet button.
- Cardigans plus knitwear made from finer yarn.
- Replacing lost buttons over shop-bought clothing.
Frequently asked questions
Which thread should I sew these on with?
Ordinary sewing thread taken double holds over most garments. Jackets or hard-worn pieces deserve buttonhole thread, which survives considerably more rubbing before wearing through.
How large should its buttonhole be?
Slightly wider than its diameter, so barely over 15 mm here. Thickness counts too: a flat button wants a tighter hole than a domed one. Always test over a scrap first.
Does it survive a washing machine?
Yes. Polyester absorbs no water, so this button never warps while its colour stays. Only while ironing, guide your iron around it, otherwise that surface may dull.
Why keep thread slightly loose?
Because a button pulled tight sits against fabric, making it hard to fasten. Lay a matchstick underneath, sew, then withdraw it — leaving your button its shank.
