Description
Grosgrain is recognised by its fine crosswise rib, which appears because the weft is thicker than the warp. The rib makes the ribbon firm without turning it stiff. This one is made from 100 % cotton and measures 25 mm across. Cotton means matt rather than glossy, grippy rather than slick, and it takes colour deeply. In Pale Yellow the ribbon looks calm and solid. Use it for bag handles and straps, as a belt, for binding edges, or as a trim on garments. Sold by the metre from 0,2 metres, so you take exactly the length your project needs.
What Cotton Grosgrain Ribbon 25 mm in Pale Yellow is suitable for
- Bag handles and straps
- Belts and waistband finishes
- Binding raw edges
- Trims and accent stripes on garments

Frequently asked questions
How does it differ from satin ribbon?
Grosgrain has a crosswise rib and a matt, grippy surface, while satin is smooth and shiny. Grosgrain is noticeably firmer and takes strain well, whereas satin is softer and drapes more easily.
Can I wash this ribbon?
Cotton takes washing well. Keep in mind that cotton can shrink the first time. If the ribbon sits on a garment, wash it once before sewing so that it cannot pull up later on.
Will it hold as a bag handle?
Yes, it is firm enough for that. On heavy bags, stitch the handle down twice and lock the seam, so the load does not rest on a few single stitches alone.
Does the cut edge fray?
Cotton frays at a raw edge. A short zigzag, a drop of fabric glue or a folded hem keeps it tidy; sealing with a flame does not work on cotton.
