Burgundy belongs among colours making garments look instantly more valuable. That comes from its brownish undertone: removing any glare from the red, letting the shade read elegant without turning dark or stern. The fabric measures approximately 100 cm across, so a short piece covers every edge of one jumper. As ribbing, burgundy suits camel, natural white, grey and navy. Through colder months it becomes a lovely alternative replacing black, bringing warmth into an outfit instead of merely framing it.
Available in more colours in the Heike series.
Cut the strip crosswise to the selvedge, where the stretch runs, then fold it lengthwise along the crease. Rule of thumb: neckbands about two thirds to three quarters of the neckline, sleeve or hem bands slightly shorter than the circumference.
The fabric measures approximately 100 cm across. Several ribbing strips fit side by side, which means even a short length covers sleeves, hem and neckline of one complete jumper without running short.
Fine rib describes the narrow, regular rib structure of the knit. It makes the fabric especially stretchy crosswise while creating that typical firm ribbing handle. Against coarse rib knits, fine rib looks neater, adding less bulk at necks or sleeves.
At 240 gsm the ribbing carries enough substance to hold edges permanently in shape, yet stays soft enough around necklines. It adds little bulk at sleeves, matching jersey and sweat fabrics nicely in weight.
