Description

Wide velvet ribs, a gently shimmering pile and a full hand: that is Wanja by Swafing. Made of 100 % polyester, 380 g/m² in weight and 140 cm wide.

Dark blue is a classic, rich navy, timeless on armchairs and just as strong on jackets and trousers. This colour is part of the permanent Wanja range and combines well with the other shades in the series.

Sew with a strong needle, a longer stitch and ideally a walking foot, so the thick layers do not shift.

The dense surface forgives crumbs and pet hair: a lint roller or a brush is usually enough for care in between.

Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
How do I sew velvet wide cord?
Use a strong denim or universal needle, a longer stitch and ideally a walking foot, so the layers do not shift. Trim seam allowances narrow and press them apart with your fingers, and the seam will be less bulky.
Is Wanja suitable for upholstery?
Yes, this fabric is highly abrasion-resistant and copes well with frequent sitting. For armchairs, chairs and stools, stretch it taut and fix it with upholstery staples. It helps to fold the corners as a test first.
How do I care for Wanja?
Wash at 30 degrees, do not bleach, do not tumble dry and do not iron. After washing, pull it straight and dry flat. A gentle stroke with a soft brush lifts the pile again when needed.
Can I iron velvet cord?
Better not. Heat and pressure flatten the pile and leave shiny marks. Seams can be smoothed with your fingers or shaped with steam from a little distance, without the iron touching the fabric.
