Description

With Wanja, corduroy meets velvet. Its ribs are around a centimetre wide and the pile feels soft and dense. 380 g/m², 100 % polyester, 140 cm wide.

Light red is a clear, bright red, strong and cheerful, for accents that are meant to stand out. This colour is part of the permanent Wanja range and combines well with the other shades in the series.

Line the ribs up at the same height across seams and trim seam allowances narrow, and the result looks neat and flat.

Because this fabric hardly creases and polyester keeps its shape, covers still look tidy after long use.

Sewing tips
Available in more colours in the Wanja series.

Frequently asked questions
How do I sew velvet wide cord?
Use a strong denim or universal needle, a longer stitch and ideally a walking foot, so the layers do not shift. Trim seam allowances narrow and press them apart with your fingers, and the seam will be less bulky.
Is Wanja suitable for upholstery?
Yes, this fabric is highly abrasion-resistant and copes well with frequent sitting. For armchairs, chairs and stools, stretch it taut and fix it with upholstery staples. It helps to fold the corners as a test first.
How do I care for Wanja?
Wash at 30 degrees, do not bleach, do not tumble dry and do not iron. After washing, pull it straight and dry flat. A gentle stroke with a soft brush lifts the pile again when needed.
Can I iron velvet cord?
Better not. Heat and pressure flatten the pile and leave shiny marks. Seams can be smoothed with your fingers or shaped with steam from a little distance, without the iron touching the fabric.
