Description

It consists of 100 % polyester, weighs 380 g/m² and measures 140 cm across.

Dark green is a rich fir green that looks especially refined in velvet and makes rooms feel calm and sheltered. This colour is part of the permanent Wanja range and combines well with the other shades in the series.

Line the ribs up at the same height across seams and trim seam allowances narrow, and the result looks neat and flat.

For upholstery projects a test piece is worthwhile: tension, rib alignment and corners can be tried out calmly.

Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Is Wanja suitable for upholstery?
Yes, this fabric is highly abrasion-resistant and copes well with frequent sitting. For armchairs, chairs and stools, stretch it taut and fix it with upholstery staples. It helps to fold the corners as a test first.
Does this fabric shrink in the wash?
Polyester hardly shrinks, so prewashing matters less than with cotton. For cushion covers and garments that will go in the machine later, a test wash is still worthwhile so nothing comes as a surprise.
Can I iron velvet cord?
Better not. Heat and pressure flatten the pile and leave shiny marks. Seams can be smoothed with your fingers or shaped with steam from a little distance, without the iron touching the fabric.
What does wide cord mean?
Wide cord has much broader ribs than fine corduroy. On Wanja they are bold velvet ribs that show plenty of texture and catch the light differently depending on the angle. The effect is homely and high quality.
