A measuring aid for short distances — faster than a tape and more accurate than the eye. It measures 18 mm. Sold as a single item. Produced from steel, plastic.
Every cut starts with a measurement: measure wrong once and you cut wrong twice, with the fabric lost. Marking the seam allowance at the same time removes guesswork at the machine and hits the edge reliably. The fabric lies flat and untensioned while measuring; stretched knits otherwise measure longer than they later are. Anyone sewing regularly likes to keep such notions in duplicate.
What Prym Schrägbandformer 18 mm 611345 is suitable for

Frequently asked questions
How do I mark an even hem?
Set dots at short intervals along the measure and join them. Measuring at only two points inevitably gives a wave on a curved hem. Finally, pin the hem and check it once more from the outside.
Is it good for patchwork?
Yes, provided the edges are true and the tool lies flat. In patchwork repeatability counts for more than a single millimetre. Always working from the same edge keeps the deviation small by itself.
How do I clean it?
Wipe with a damp cloth, no scouring agents. Chalk dust and lint otherwise settle in the figures and make the scale unreadable. Let it dry before it goes back in the drawer, or it collects dust.
Do I add the seam allowance?
Only if the pattern does not include it. Many patterns already do; a look at the instructions settles it faster than any sum on the fabric.
