Description
Bias binding is cut at an angle to the grain. That is exactly why it curves without creasing, which shows immediately on necklines, armholes and rounded bag bases. This binding is 20 mm wide and made from 65 % polyester and 35 % cotton. The blend holds its shape while staying soft enough to fold neatly. Both edges come turned already: lay it on, stitch it down, done. Sold by the metre from 0,2 metres. Thanks to the high polyester content the binding fades little and does not shrink in the wash.
What Bias Binding 20 mm, folded, in White is suitable for

Frequently asked questions
Why is it called bias binding?
Because it is cut at an angle to the grain. That lets it stretch and follow curves without creasing. Binding cut on the straight grain buckles at the same spot and stands away from the fabric.
Do I need to press it first?
No, both edges are turned already. Lay the binding over the fabric edge and stitch it down. You may press it into shape around a curve if you like, but it is not needed for a clean result.
What fabric thickness does it take?
At 20 mm about five millimetres remain on each side once folded. That suits thin to medium fabrics. For thick cloth or several layers at once a wider binding is the better choice.
Can I wash it?
Yes. The high polyester content means the binding barely shrinks and fades little. Wash it together with the finished piece where possible, so binding and fabric age at the same rate.
