Like all metallic threads it consists of a coated film around a core. The glitter comes from light refracting on that film – which is why the thread works best in movement.

For use in an embroidery machine: reduce speed, lower the tension slightly, fit a metallic needle. With those three steps thread breaks stay the exception.

Avoid large, densely stitched areas. The high stitch density strains the thread and the design turns hard. As an outline, lettering or highlight it is ideal.

Wash cool and inside out. The coating tolerates neither high temperatures nor heavy friction; in a tumble dryer it loses its shine quickly.

Good to know

How does it differ from ordinary metallic thread?

In the effect. Sparkling glitters more, because light is refracted additionally on the film. Handling is the same: sew slowly, reduce tension, use a metallic needle.

Is it suitable for large embroidered areas?

Better not. Dense stitching strains the thread, it breaks more often and the design turns hard. As an outline or highlight the effect shows better anyway.

How do I care for embroidery with this thread?

Wash cool and inside out, with no tumble drying. Heat and friction attack the coating and the glitter fades noticeably after only a few hot cycles.
