Yellow is not a tone for hiding. It belongs where things are meant to be seen. 200 m at weight 40: a polyamide core wrapped in metal foil. Colour code 270. A metallic needle with a larger eye spares the wrapping.
On dark ground the metallic sheen comes out strongest; on light ground it reads more restrained. A thread for accents: across large areas the shine quickly reads as too much, in the right place as exactly right. The spool belongs upright and dust-free in your box. A test piece beforehand saves trouble in the middle of a design.
What Madeira Metallic Sparkling Gelb is suitable for
- outlines around matt embroidery designs
- accents on dark clothing
- stars, snowflakes and ornaments
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Why does metallic thread break so easily?
Because the metal foil around its core is more delicate than a smooth polyester filament. Stitch slower, loosen the top tension and fit a metallic needle with a large eye — that usually solves it.
Which needle do I need?
A metallic needle. Its larger eye rubs less against the wrapping, which otherwise abrades. With an ordinary embroidery needle the thread breaks far more often, especially on dense designs.
May I iron over the embroidery?
No, not directly. Metal foil takes no direct heat and turns dull. If ironing is needed, work from the reverse with a cloth between and at a low temperature.
Is the spool sold singly?
Yes, every spool is sold on its own. Since metallic thread is usually needed for single accents only, one spool often lasts across many projects without running out.
