Description

With Gold you set a warm accent. Beside blue and grey that looks particularly lively. The spool holds 200 m. Weight 40 matches usual machine embroidery thread, and the colour code is 025. Top tension belongs noticeably loosened.

If you work with it for the first time, plan a test piece: it behaves differently from polyester. The wrapping takes no direct ironing heat; over finished embroidery you therefore do not iron. Do not iron directly over finished embroidery. The spool belongs upright and dust-free in your box.

What Madeira Metallic Sparkling Embroidery Thread 200 m Gold is suitable for

  • decorative stitches on a sewing machine
  • labelling on bags
  • appliqué on occasion wear

Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions

How do I set the tension?

Noticeably looser than for ordinary embroidery. Metallic thread barely stretches and reacts sensitively to pull. Set too tight, it breaks instead of settling into the stitch.

May I iron over the embroidery?

No, not directly. Metal foil takes no direct heat and turns dull. If ironing is needed, work from the reverse with a cloth between and at a low temperature.

How durable is the embroidery?

Under normal use good. Metallic thread is not meant for garments stressed daily — for festive pieces, decoration and accents its durability is entirely sufficient.

Can I sew with it on a sewing machine?

For decorative seams yes, slowly and with loosened tension. For load-bearing seams it is unsuitable: the core holds, but the wrapping abrades along the seam over time.
