Green stands on its own. As topstitching on natural fabrics it gives a contrast that never turns intrusive. The spool carries 200 m of metallic embroidery thread at weight 40, and the colour code reads 305. It is best to let the spool unroll horizontally rather than pull off vertically.
Set as an outline around a matt design, it changes the effect of the whole embroidery. Madeira lists Sparkling in graded metal tones, from warm to cool, so the shine can be matched to a project. Note the colour code with your project straight away.

Frequently asked questions
How do I set the tension?
Noticeably looser than for ordinary embroidery. Metallic thread barely stretches and reacts sensitively to pull. Set too tight, it breaks instead of settling into the stitch.
Can I wash the piece?
Yes, at a gentle temperature. The shine survives as long as it is not washed hot or put through a dryer. For occasion wear hand washing is the safe option.
Which bobbin thread suits it?
A fine bobbin thread, as with any machine embroidery. Metallic thread belongs on top only; in the bobbin it would upset stitch formation and abrade in the hook.
How durable is the embroidery?
Under normal use good. Metallic thread is not meant for garments stressed daily — for festive pieces, decoration and accents its durability is entirely sufficient.
