Mottled blue is the all-rounder among blue ribbings: medium in tone, lively in surface, therefore less stern than a plain solid. Against denim, grey sweat fabrics and striped jerseys the finish looks like it always belonged. Weighing 240 gsm, this fine rib holds sleeve and neck edges reliably in shape. Around children's clothing the melange proves especially practical: its subtly speckled surface shows stains later than plain ribbing — small sewing irregularities disappearing along with them.

Which needle and stitch work best?

Sew using a stretch or jersey needle in size 75 to 80, moving up to 90 across several layers at a hood or waistband. An overlocker or elastic stitch keeps the seam flexible, while a straight stitch snaps as the garment is pulled on.

How does the melange look appear?

The melange comes of finely blended fibres, giving ribbing a lively, subtly speckled depth. It suits mottled sweat fabrics particularly well, letting edges appear less flat than plain solid ribbing would.

How wide is this ribbing fabric?

The fabric measures approximately 100 cm across. Several ribbing strips fit side by side, which means even a short length covers sleeves, hem and neckline of one complete jumper without running short.

What does fine rib mean?

Fine rib describes the narrow, regular rib structure of the knit. It makes the fabric especially stretchy crosswise while creating that typical firm ribbing handle. Against coarse rib knits, fine rib looks neater, adding less bulk at necks or sleeves.
