Description

Burgundy as a melange looks a shade more elegant than the plain solid: blended fibres let the wine red shift, almost like fine knitwear. As ribbing against camel, grey or natural white it creates edges resembling ready-made clothing. The fabric runs approximately 100 cm wide, so a short piece covers every edge of one jumper. Around women's jumpers and loop scarves this ranks among the loveliest shades here — through December becoming the grown-up alternative replacing classic Christmas red.

How do I cut ribbing correctly?

Cut the strip crosswise to the selvedge, where the stretch runs, then fold it lengthwise along the crease. Rule of thumb: neckbands about two thirds to three quarters of the neckline, sleeve or hem bands slightly shorter than the circumference.

How does the melange look appear?

The melange comes of finely blended fibres, giving ribbing a lively, subtly speckled depth. It suits mottled sweat fabrics particularly well, letting edges appear less flat than plain solid ribbing would.

How much ribbing do I need?

Sleeve and hem ribbing on a jumper usually takes only a short piece, while hoodies including hood facings or pockets need more. We cut from 0.2 metres upwards, so you can order exactly what your pattern calls for.
