Description

A mottled light shade is to white what classic sweatshirt grey is to grey: finely blended fibres give the surface life without darkening the colour. As a finish that looks distinctly less flat than plain solid white. Weighing 240 gsm, this fine rib holds edges permanently in shape. It looks especially lovely beside mottled sweat fabrics: ribbing and outer fabric then speak one language. Next to strong colours the light shade works too, softening contrast more than a clear white would.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cut ribbing correctly?

Cut the strip crosswise to the selvedge, where the stretch runs, then fold it lengthwise along the crease. Rule of thumb: neckbands about two thirds to three quarters of the neckline, sleeve or hem bands slightly shorter than the circumference.

How does the melange look appear?

The melange comes of finely blended fibres, giving ribbing a lively, subtly speckled depth. It suits mottled sweat fabrics particularly well, letting edges appear less flat than plain solid ribbing would.

What is fine rib ribbing used for?

Fine rib ribbing gives sleeves, hems and necklines a tidy finish. The elastic rib springs back after stretching, so edges on hoodies, sweat jackets or joggers sit firmly without pinching, keeping their shape through many washes.

How elastic is this ribbing containing 5 % elastane?

A share of 5 % elastane gives the fine rib structure extra recovery: the ribbing stretches widely, then springs back into shape. Sleeve or neck edges therefore never bag out, even on children's clothing that gets pulled on every day.
