Description
Black is the darkest shade in the range and looks less harsh in boucle than on smooth fabrics, because the curls break up the light. A black teddy jacket is elegant and can be worn with anything. As a collar or pocket trim on light colours black also sets clear accents.
The reverse matters when planning: Kodiak has a woven backing that feels slightly rough. For cushions and upholstery that makes no difference, on garments a lining makes them comfortable to wear. A smooth cotton sateen lining also helps jackets slide over a jumper more easily.
Kodiak is just as good for home projects: armchair covers, stools, cushions and throws get a soft, tactile surface that feels warm.
What Plush in Black is suitable for
- Teddy jackets, vests and coats with a lining, because the firm woven backing gives the fabric body.
- Collars, pocket trims and hoods as a boucle accent on smooth fabrics.
- Bags and accessories where the texture works even without decoration.
- Armchair covers, stools and seat cushions, as the compact curls stand up well to frequent use.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Which lining colour suits Kodiak?
Tone on tone looks calm and refined, a contrast adds an accent when the jacket is opened. The type matters more: jersey for stretch patterns, cotton or cotton sateen for all others.
Does Kodiak need a lining?
For garments, yes. The reverse is a woven base rather than fleece, so a lined jacket or vest is more comfortable and lasts longer. Jersey suits stretch patterns, otherwise use plain cotton, poplin or cotton sateen.
How do I wash Kodiak?
At 30 degrees on a gentle cycle, ideally turned inside out. Do not put it in the dryer, let it dry flat instead. That keeps the curls loose and the fabric holds its shape.
Can I iron Kodiak?
Preferably not directly. If you must, iron only from the wrong side, with little heat and a pressing cloth in between. On the right side the iron flattens the curls and the mark stays visible.
