Description
Taupe sits between grey and brown, so it looks warm without turning brownish. The shade is earthy and understated and goes with mustard, rust and cream in autumn. As a coat or armchair cover taupe looks refined and hardly shows the small marks of everyday use.
Kodiak is a teddy boucle with a woven backing. The curls lie compact and flat, so the fabric is less bulky than long-pile plush. Because the inside is woven, garments need a lining, ideally in a matching shade, so that an open coat looks coherent as well.
Kodiak is just as good for home projects: armchair covers, stools, cushions and throws get a soft, tactile surface that feels warm.
What Plush in Taupe is suitable for
- Teddy jackets, vests and coats with a lining, because the firm woven backing gives the fabric body.
- Bags and accessories where the texture works even without decoration.
- Armchair covers, stools and seat cushions, as the compact curls stand up well to frequent use.
- Cushions and throws that should feel soft and warm.
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Does Kodiak need a lining?
For garments, yes. The reverse is a woven base rather than fleece, so a lined jacket or vest is more comfortable and lasts longer. Jersey suits stretch patterns, otherwise use plain cotton, poplin or cotton sateen.
Is Kodiak suitable for upholstery?
Yes. Thanks to the firm woven backing the fabric holds up well on seats, stools and armchairs. For furniture covers it is worth allowing a little extra so that all pieces can be cut in the same pile direction.
Is the fabric bulky at the seams?
A little, but less than long-pile plush, because the curls lie compact. Trim the seam allowances narrow and brush the pile out of the seam, and the seam almost disappears into the boucle.
Which sewing machine settings do you recommend?
A strong universal needle and a slightly longer stitch than for cotton. A walking foot prevents the layers from creeping against each other. Testing on a scrap first is always worthwhile.
