Warm and deep: Bronze suits anything meant to look handmade. The spool carries 100 m. Jeans needles in sizes 90 to 110 are recommended, and the thread number is 2040. Raise the tension a little so the topstitching lies taut.
It also serves to repair existing jeans seams, since it matches the tone of the old stitching. Gütermann's denim sewing thread is tuned to jeans fabrics: heavier than ordinary sewing thread so topstitching stays visible. Before topstitching, a test piece on the same layers pays off.
What Gütermann Denim Jeansnähgarn Bronze is suitable for

Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
What stitch length is right?
A little longer than on a normal seam — three to three and a half millimetres look right on jeans. Short stitches make a heavy seam read crowded and restless.
How far does one spool go?
Across topstitching on several pairs of trousers. Since only the top thread uses it and topstitching runs short, the spool lasts longer than its length first suggests.
Why does the thread break on thick spots?
Because the needle meets more resistance there. Sew slower, turn the handwheel at the thickest points and fit a fresh jeans needle — that solves it in most cases.
Does the seam survive washing?
Yes. The thread is polyester, colourfast and strong. A pair of jeans is washed often and warm, and that is exactly what this thread is built for — the topstitching loses neither colour nor strength.
