The tone Light Blue belongs among the colours needed most often — jeans, shirts and bed linen are rarely without blue. 100 m per spool, number 6140 — that amount is cut for topstitching rather than whole garments. On thick layers it helps to sew slowly and turn the handwheel where needed.
On belt loops, pocket bags and waistband casings that topstitch is the defining detail. Gütermann supplies it in the typical gold and copper tones of a jeans seam — exactly the colours that are otherwise hard to find.
What Gütermann Denim Jeansnähgarn Hellblau is suitable for
- topstitching on jeans
- topstitching on canvas bags
- contrast seams on skirts and dresses
Sewing tips

Frequently asked questions
Can I assemble the trousers with it?
Better not. Structural seams take ordinary sewing thread; this one is meant for the visible seam. At the limit the seam construction counts for more than thread weight.
Why does the thread break on thick spots?
Because the needle meets more resistance there. Sew slower, turn the handwheel at the thickest points and fit a fresh jeans needle — that solves it in most cases.
Does the seam survive washing?
Yes. The thread is polyester, colourfast and strong. A pair of jeans is washed often and warm, and that is exactly what this thread is built for — the topstitching loses neither colour nor strength.
Can I repair an old jeans seam with it?
Yes, that is one of the commonest uses. What matters is matching the old seam's tone; laying it on the seam in daylight helps more than comparing on a screen.
