Description

The tone Gold brings warmth into a project. On grey, denim and natural shades it reads as an especially clear contrast. The spool holds 100 m of denim sewing thread, and the number on the label reads 1970. For the underside take ordinary sewing thread in a matching colour.

On bags in canvas and faux leather that heavy seam looks right too. Its weight is a deliberate choice: thick enough for the seam to read, fine enough for a domestic machine to guide cleanly. The spool covers topstitching on several pairs of trousers.

Eine Jeansnadel der Stärke 90 bis 110 verwenden, sonst bricht sie an dicken Lagen.
Für die Ziernaht das Denim-Garn als Oberfaden, unten normales Nähgarn in passender Farbe.
Stichlänge auf drei bis dreieinhalb Millimeter stellen, das sieht an Jeans richtig aus.
An dicken Stellen langsam nähen und notfalls das Handrad drehen.
Fadenspannung etwas erhöhen, damit die Steppnaht straff liegt.

Which needle do I need?

A jeans needle in size 90 to 110. It has a stronger point and a sturdier shaft so it does not snap on thick layers. A universal needle does not stand up to the load.

Which thread belongs on the bobbin?

Ordinary sewing thread in a matching colour. This heavy denim thread belongs in the machine as a top thread only; below it would add bulk and upset stitch formation, since the hook must take up more thread.

Does the seam survive washing?

Yes. The thread is polyester, colourfast and strong. A pair of jeans is washed often and warm, and that is exactly what this thread is built for — the topstitching loses neither colour nor strength.

Can I repair an old jeans seam with it?

Yes, that is one of the commonest uses. What matters is matching the old seam's tone; laying it on the seam in daylight helps more than comparing on a screen.
