Dark Red is a strong tone read at once on any ground. As topstitching it needs nothing else beside it. The spool holds 100 m of denim sewing thread, and the number on the label reads 4466. The spool is sold singly.
This thread is meant for visible topstitching on jeans — heavier than ordinary sewing thread and deliberately conspicuous. Gütermann's denim sewing thread is tuned to jeans fabrics: heavier than ordinary sewing thread so topstitching stays visible. Before topstitching, a test piece on the same layers pays off.

Sewing tips
- Eine Jeansnadel der Stärke 90 bis 110 verwenden, sonst bricht sie an dicken Lagen.
- Für die Ziernaht das Denim-Garn als Oberfaden, unten normales Nähgarn in passender Farbe.
- Stichlänge auf drei bis dreieinhalb Millimeter stellen, das sieht an Jeans richtig aus.
- An dicken Stellen langsam nähen und notfalls das Handrad drehen.
- Fadenspannung etwas erhöhen, damit die Steppnaht straff liegt.

Which thread belongs on the bobbin?
Ordinary sewing thread in a matching colour. This heavy denim thread belongs in the machine as a top thread only; below it would add bulk and upset stitch formation, since the hook must take up more thread.
What stitch length is right?
A little longer than on a normal seam — three to three and a half millimetres look right on jeans. Short stitches make a heavy seam read crowded and restless.
Do I have to change the tension?
Usually yes, a touch tighter. Heavy thread needs more pull for topstitching to lie flat. A test piece on the same layers answers faster than any settings table.
Which colour suits blue denim?
Traditionally a gold or copper tone. The contrast turns your seam into a design element. For something calmer, take a tone near the fabric — losing the typical jeans look.
