About this range

Poly Sheen von Amann Mettler ist ein glänzendes Stickgarn aus Polyester, 200 Meter je Spule. Es gibt es einfarbig und als Multi-Variante, bei der mehrere Töne im Faden wechseln — damit entstehen Verläufe, ohne dass du die Farbe wechseln musst. Der Glanz ist hoch, die Farbechtheit ebenfalls.

Sewing tips

  • Bei der Multi-Variante den Farbwechsel im Motiv einplanen: Flächen wirken lebendig, feine Schrift dagegen unruhig.
  • Oberfadenspannung lockerer stellen als beim Nähen.
  • Dünnes Untergarn als Unterfaden verwenden.
  • Ein Fadennetz über der Spule hält den Ablauf gleichmäßig.
  • Bei dichten Motiven das Tempo drosseln, damit der Faden nicht heiß läuft.

The effect depends on the seam being seen. In a closed construction seam it is lost; as topstitching, in quilting or when attaching appliqué it shows fully.

How quickly the colour changes depends on the thread. Short changes give a lively result, long gradients look calmer and recall hand dyed yarn.

In the bobbin, use a neutral shade from the gradient. Two gradient threads together look restless, because the changes do not line up.

For quilts a test piece is worthwhile. Only across an area does it show whether the rhythm of the changes suits the pattern or makes the result restless.

Can I sew whole garments with it?

Technically yes, sensibly rarely. The effect disappears in construction seams; use plain thread there and save multicolour for visible stitching.
