The thread runs olive, beige, blue grey and cream in short sections. A design gains depth from it without your needing several spools. Colour code 9974 and 200 m per spool: the figures that let this same mixture be reordered. Mettler calls this mixture Coastal Mix.

Does this thread suit lettering?
For large letters yes, for fine lettering rather not. On small characters the colour changes mid-letter, and the wording then reads restless instead of lively.
Which needle suits it?
An embroidery needle with a larger eye and a slight ball point. It spares the thread and leaves your weave undamaged. A change after each larger project pays off, since blunt points drag.
Can I sew with it instead of embroidering?
For decorative seams yes. For load-bearing seams embroidery thread is the wrong pick, being built for sheen and suppleness rather than the strength a structural seam needs.
How should I store the spool?
Upright, dry and out of the light. Direct sun bleaches the outer layers, and in a mixture it shows at once when one tone grows paler than the rest.
