Yes, a fine bobbin thread belongs in the case. With a changing top colour a neutral one works best, since no single tone matches the surface throughout.
Which needle suits it?
An embroidery needle with a larger eye and a slight ball point. It spares the thread and leaves your weave undamaged. A change after each larger project pays off, since blunt points drag.
Can I sew with it instead of embroidering?
For decorative seams yes. For load-bearing seams embroidery thread is the wrong pick, being built for sheen and suppleness rather than the strength a structural seam needs.
What do I do when the thread breaks?
Slow down and loosen the top tension. A net over the spool keeps the feed calm. The thread is no weaker at colour transitions, so it does not break there more often.
