Description
Salmon is no cool pink but carries a clear orange share. On natural shades it reads especially friendly. At 16 cm of tooth length it fits wherever you need exactly that opening — measured on your finished pattern piece, not on paper.
3 mm of coil width — narrow enough for fine wovens, strong enough for the slider to grip securely. Store it flat and closed, ideally sorted by length. Folded, the tape keeps that crease, and you see it later along the sewn-in edge.
What Closed-End Zip 16 cm Salmon is suitable for
- Bags with a zipped compartment, because it stays closed at the bottom.
- Trousers and skirts, because only an opening should part there.
- Garment bags, because the opening matches the length exactly.
Sewing tips
- Die angegebene Länge ist die Zahnlänge, nicht die Bandlänge. Für den Schlitz im Schnittmuster zählt die Zahnlänge.
- Reißverschlussfuß verwenden und die Naht knappkantig neben den Zähnen führen.
- Zu lange Verschlüsse lassen sich kürzen: oben abschneiden, neuen Anschlag mit Handstichen setzen und das Band in die Nahtzugabe einschlagen.
- In Taschen den Verschluss vor dem Zusammennähen der Seitennähte einsetzen, solange die Teile noch flach liegen.
- Bei dünnen Stoffen ein Stück Vlieseline unterlegen, damit die Kante nicht ausreißt.
- Metallausführungen nicht bügeln; die Spitzenvariante nur von links und mit Tuch.
- Zum Waschen schließen. Offene Zähne verhaken sich in Maschenware und ziehen Fäden.

Frequently asked questions
Can I shorten it?
From the top yes. Cut it to the length you need, fold the tape into your seam allowance and set a new stop with a few hand stitches. From the bottom you cannot — that is where the fixed stop sits.
How do I get the seam close to the teeth?
With a zip foot, a slow pace and a tacked edge. Press the allowance beforehand and it lies flat while you sew, so the seam keeps an even distance.
Which needle should I use?
A universal needle in a suitable size. Never sew across the teeth themselves — on metal a needle breaks, on plastic it bends. Push the slider aside first.
How far should the topstitching sit?
About three to five millimetres beside the teeth. Too close and the slider brushes your seam; too far and the fabric throws a ripple over the tape.
