Description

A clear white with no cream cast. On white or pale fabrics it stays discreet; on dark ones it turns into a design element. Tooth length comes to 35 cm. Lay it against your piece before cutting and you will see at once whether the opening sits right.

That continuous coil measures 3 mm. Unlike separate metal teeth it forms an even line and runs silently. If the slider sticks later, fabric or a thread is usually caught between the teeth — ease it out rather than forcing it. A little candle wax on the teeth gets it running smoothly again.

  • Bags with a zipped compartment, because it stays closed at the bottom.
  • Trousers and skirts, because only an opening should part there.
  • Dresses fastening at the side, because that seam stays calm.

Sewing tips

  • Die angegebene Länge ist die Zahnlänge, nicht die Bandlänge. Für den Schlitz im Schnittmuster zählt die Zahnlänge.
  • Reißverschlussfuß verwenden und die Naht knappkantig neben den Zähnen führen.
  • Zu lange Verschlüsse lassen sich kürzen: oben abschneiden, neuen Anschlag mit Handstichen setzen und das Band in die Nahtzugabe einschlagen.
  • In Taschen den Verschluss vor dem Zusammennähen der Seitennähte einsetzen, solange die Teile noch flach liegen.
  • Bei dünnen Stoffen ein Stück Vlieseline unterlegen, damit die Kante nicht ausreißt.
  • Metallausführungen nicht bügeln; die Spitzenvariante nur von links und mit Tuch.
  • Zum Waschen schließen. Offene Zähne verhaken sich in Maschenware und ziehen Fäden.

Can I shorten it?

From the top yes. Cut it to the length you need, fold the tape into your seam allowance and set a new stop with a few hand stitches. From the bottom you cannot — that is where the fixed stop sits.

The slider sticks — what helps?

Usually fabric or a thread is caught between the teeth; ease it out rather than forcing it. If it still runs stiff, a little candle wax on the teeth helps.

How do I care for the finished piece?

Close the fastener before every wash. The tape then will not distort and the teeth cannot catch in other laundry. Never press directly over the slider.

How exactly must the colour match?

On visible fastenings as closely as possible; on concealed ones a roughly matching tone will do. If unsure, take the next darker shade — one too pale stands out more.
