Reed green carries a clear grey cast, recalling dry reeds at the water's edge. It is the quietest green in the range. Tooth length comes to 35 cm. Lay it against your piece before cutting and you will see at once whether the opening sits right.
This coil is 3 mm wide — the finest version in the range. It is light, flexible and adds hardly any bulk on thin fabrics. Sold singly. Measure the opening on your finished pattern piece rather than on paper — seam allowances and hem change the length you need. Too long, and you shorten it from the top: cut, fold the tape in, set a new stop with hand stitches.

Sewing tips
- Die angegebene Länge ist die Zahnlänge, nicht die Bandlänge. Für den Schlitz im Schnittmuster zählt die Zahnlänge.
- Reißverschlussfuß verwenden und die Naht knappkantig neben den Zähnen führen.
- Zu lange Verschlüsse lassen sich kürzen: oben abschneiden, neuen Anschlag mit Handstichen setzen und das Band in die Nahtzugabe einschlagen.
- In Taschen den Verschluss vor dem Zusammennähen der Seitennähte einsetzen, solange die Teile noch flach liegen.
- Bei dünnen Stoffen ein Stück Vlieseline unterlegen, damit die Kante nicht ausreißt.
- Metallausführungen nicht bügeln; die Spitzenvariante nur von links und mit Tuch.
- Zum Waschen schließen. Offene Zähne verhaken sich in Maschenware und ziehen Fäden.

What does closed-end mean?
This fastener is closed at the bottom: the slider runs onto a fixed stop and both halves stay joined. Your piece opens only along the teeth, never completely.
Does it work on jersey?
Yes, if you stabilise the edge. A strip of interfacing or a narrow stay tape in the seam allowance stops that edge stretching as you sew and rippling later.
How does metal differ from coil?
Metal teeth sit separately on the tape; a coil runs continuously. Metal reads stronger and more visible, a coil stays lighter and more flexible — on thin fabrics the calmer choice.
Which needle should I use?
A universal needle in a suitable size. Never sew across the teeth themselves — on metal a needle breaks, on plastic it bends. Push the slider aside first.
